April 24 - Den Meeting/Parent-Son Kickball Game

Dear Tiger Cub Parents,

This is a reminder of tomorrow's (Tuesday, April 24) den meeting.  We will be having a Parent-Son Kickball Game, starting at 7:00 PM at Warwick Park (off Washburn Ave.)!

No actual kickball skills are required to play!  In case you haven't played in 30 years (like me), I'll remind you of the basic rules:
  • It's played basically like baseball, but instead of a pitcher, there is a roller (this will be one of the parents from each team)
  • You kick the ball instead of hitting it with a bat (thus, the name "kickball")
  • You get an out just like in baseball by catching a fly ball or forcing a runner out at base, but you can also "tag" the runner with the ball by touching them with it or throwing it at them (kind of like dodge ball) - PLEASE TRY TO AVOID THROWING THE BALL AT THE RUNNER'S HEAD!!!
  • We will not count "strikes" (but we may giggle a little bit)
  • And instead of changing sides after 3 outs, we'll let each player on a team kick the ball before we switch.
So come ready to play and have a great time!  Don't forget to bring a drink for you and your son.  The boys do not need to wear their uniforms.

Please feel free to come and play, even if you think you may arrive a few minutes late.  (I know some of you have soccer practice beforehand.)  I also realize that our den meeting is on the same night as the academic fair, so we'll try to wrap it up by 7:45, in case you want to try and attend both.

See you all on the kickball field!

Upcoming Events

Dear Tiger Cub Parents,

As we approach the end of the school year, I wanted to send you the dates and details for our remaining few scouting events.  I'll send out separate reminders as we get closer to each one.

April 24 - Den Meeting (Warwick Park) 7:00 PM
This will be our last den meeting for the year, and it will be a fun one!  We will be having a parent-son kickball game at Warwick Park (off Washburn Ave.).  Parents and kids, come ready to play!  The boys may wear their uniforms to school that day, if they wish, but they can just wear their play clothes for the kickball game.  And don't worry, parents.  You don't have to have any kickball skills to play - you just have to have fun!

May 9 - Pack Crossover Ceremony (St. Albert Courtyard) 7:00 PM
All of the boys will officially become Wolf Scouts!  If you and your son will be participating in the ceremony, please send me an e-mail to let me know.  As part of our ceremony, I will ask each parent to take off their son's Tiger neckerchief and replace it with their new Wolf neckerchief.  (Don't tell your son - this will be a surprise for them!)  I will get a new Wolf neckerchief and slide for each boy that will be at the ceremony, and you can reimburse the pack for the cost.  If you already have a neckerchief and slide (new or hand-me-down) and will be using that instead, please let me know, so that I don't buy more than are needed.

May 12 - Go See It (Harvest Home Dairy) 9:30 AM
This will be our last Go See It.  We will be going to the dairy farm owned by Jacob M.'s grandfather.  It is located at 7401 Hanna Rd., Crestwood, KY 40014.  This is a working farm, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.  (Your shoes will get dirty!)  Our visit should last about an hour and a half.

May 18-20 - Pack Campout (Sycamore Springs Park)
This will be our Pack's Spring campout.  Camping is an important part of the scouting experience, so don't miss it!  Sycamore Springs Park is located at 717 West Tunnel Hill Road, English, IN 47118.  This is a private campground with indoor shower and restroom facilities.  We will be "front woods" camping, so you'll be able to drive your vehicle to the campsite.  You may camp Friday night, Saturday night, or both nights.  Or if you wish, you may just come for the day.  The cost is free and firewood will be provided.

June 4-8 - Cub Scout Day Camp (Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve)
You should have received in the mail information regarding the Lincoln Heritage Council's Cub Scout Day Camps.  Our Pack will be going as a group (provided enough people are interested) to the Seneca District camp at the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, located at 12501 Harmony Landing Road  Goshen, KY 40026.  A certain number of volunteer adult chaperones are required for each group attending the camp.  If you are interested in sending your son to the camp, please let me know in an e-mail.  Also, please let me know if you are willing to volunteer for one or more days as an adult chaperone.  (If we get enough parents to volunteer, we can rotate the days, and you won't have to go for the whole week.)  For more information or to register you, your scout or a "little buddy" (younger siblings), visit the LHC website.

Please feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.
