October 19-21 - Pack Camp Out

Dear Tiger Cub Akelas,

First, I want to thank Brian C. (Elliott's dad) for organizing our hike last Sunday.  The weather finally decided to cooperate, and we all had a fun, and thankfully dry, time!  If you have never been to the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, I suggest you check it out.  They have some really nice hiking trails!  If you were not able to make it to the Go See It, you can make up Achievement 5G on your own by taking a hike in a local park or even a walk around your neighborhood.

Next, I want to remind you that this weekend will be Pack 327's Fall Camp Out at Camp Crooked Creek in the Harry S. Frazier Scout Reservation.  The Scout Reservation is located at 950 Terry Drive in Shepherdsville, KY.  Alex Kuprion, our Cubmaster, will be heading down Friday after school to set up our campsite.  You may camp out Friday night, Saturday night, or both nights.

I will be camping with my three scouts on Saturday night.  We will be meeting some other scout families in St. Albert's parking lot at 10:30 AM, if you'd like to follow us down there.  If you do want to caravan with us from St. Albert, please let me know with a reply to this e-mail.

You will need to provide your own tent and sleeping supplies, along with your own food and drinks (and anything you might need to prepare your food with).  There will be a camp fire in the evening.  Here's a list of some other things you might not want to forget:
  • Camp chairs
  • Flashlights
  • Extra clothes
  • Fishing pole & tackle (there is a fishing pond)
  • Towel (where there is water, there will be wet scouts)
  • Extra clothes
  • Outdoor games/activities/sporting equipment
  • Scout uniform shirt (we may have a flag retirement ceremony after sundown)
  • Knit hat & gloves (expect temperatures in the 50s or even the 40s at night)
You will be able to park and unpack your car at the campsite, so speaking from experience, it is much better to have too much than not enough!

If you have any questions, please let me know.  I hope to see you all there!

Mark Hiland
